Athletics
Athletics continues to be an integral part of the summer term at BMS. It is covered within the PE curriculum where Year 7 to 9 students participate in a 6 week (half term) block of athletics. Within this, the students will be taught the skills and techniques required to perform in a number of events covering the main aspects of athletics, jumps, throws and running.
Athletics is also a part of the Games curriculum with Year 7 to 13 students being able to undertake the sport as one of their Games options.
The budding, and future Olympic athletes are then catered for with two (Monday and Thursday) after school training evenings where they can improve their technique(s) and even try new events. There are also numerous athletics meeting over the course of the term for them to showcase their talent. The training evenings are open to any student in the school wishing to try athletics with all the events being available for them to attempt.
