Netball
During the Spring term, netball is the main sporting focus for all of our female students. This is supplemented with practices at lunch times, after school and at weekends. These sessions cover all the aspects of netball including skill development, tactics, umpiring skills and teamwork.
High Fives is played throughout the Junior School and aims to introduce the students to the basic principles of netball. The game focuses on ensuring all players experience a variety of positions and roles within a game situation. This includes attacking and defending position, scoring and timekeeping. Fixtures are organised against the Harpur trust Schools and aimed at building team work, foundation skills and a basic knowledge for the game. In the Spring term, students have the opportunity to play in the Bedford & District Junior League.
In the Senior School, students are introduced to the standard format for netball. Years 7 & 8 compete in a local netball league against other Bedfordshire schools. They are also invited to the Bedfordshire and District Junior League. The current Year 9 and Sixth Form girls currently play in the Bedfordshire School League. Friendly fixtures are arranged in addition to league matches.
