Performance Directors

Director of Rowing - Ali Brown 

Ali joined us in October 2007 from Sir William Borlase's Grammar School, Marlow where he was also Director of Rowing. He was responsible for over 100 rowers and In his final year, Sir William Borlase's won nine national medals.

Ali rowed for Great Britain from 1997 to 2005 and is now coaching one of the Junior GB crews.

Director of Cricket - Paul Woodroffe

Paul joined the cricket coaching staff part time in 2004 and in 2006 was made our full time Director of Cricket. Paul played first class cricket for Buckinghamshire (1999-2004) with a batting average of 31 and a bowling average of 20.85. He also played in over 41 Minor Counties Championship and trophy matches between.

Paul is also a hockey and swimming coach, working with the First XI hockey teams and assisting with the Junior School swimming programme.


Director of Rugby - Rob Hardwick

Rob had an extensive professional playing career having played for Coventry, London Irish, the Barbarians and England until finaly hanging up his boots in April 2006.

In 2002, Rob was part of the victorious London Irish Team that won the Powergen Cup after defeating Northampton 38-7 at Twickenham.

Rob has also worked for the Youth Sport Trust as a mentor for athletic excellence. He will not only have responsibility for directing rugby at BMS but will also run the BMS Academy for Sport. This is a newly created Sports Academy within the School for young and gifted pupils who excel in their chosen sport.
