Performance Sports
In 2006 we gave Rowing, Rugby and Cricket the new status of “Performance Sports”. A Performance Sport will be given the additional support needed to raise significantly the standard of facilities, sporting provision and ultimately student performance at BMS.
We have already demonstrated our intent by appointing a full time Director for each of the three sports. The Directors’ primary responsibilities are to take the lead role in the strategic development of their respective sport and manage all aspects of the Rugby, Rowing and Cricket programmes within the School.
At present Rugby Union is exclusively for boys, although both boys and girls will benefit from the performance sport status of Cricket and Rowing. We will continue to monitor the trends in women's sport and as numbers continue to grow we will elect a third Performance Sport for our female students.
In order to alleviate any concern, please note the ‘Performance Sports’ initiative will not detract from the continued development of the other sports offered at the School.
