Curriculum Swimming
Swimming is an activity that is compulsory in the Junior School with the students participating in a weekly lesson. In the main school it becomes part of the Physical Education programme with a half-term blocks for Year 7 and 8. It is also offered as an activity in the Games programme and can be selected from Years 8-13.
The aims of curriculum swimming are, broadly, to give the pupils water confidence, to teach them the correct technique for the four competitive swimming strokes and to encourage the more talented performers to represent the school. Normally, all Year 6 students can swim to a level well above the National Curriculum requirements.
Swimming, Personal Survival and Water Polo can also be chosen as practical sports in GCSE Physical Education. Please click on the buttons for information about our extra curricular swimming and water polo.
