Tennis & Rounders
The Summer term provides the girls with an opportunity to play both tennis and rounders within their afternoon games sessions.
Rounders is a very enjoyable and social game whilst primarily promoting the development of hand-eye co-ordination. Individual skills such as bowling, under and over arm throwing and batting are base skills practised at an early age.
Rounders can be a highly strategic game, and most of the sessions are aimed at developing this awareness through game play. This training proves vital when BMS competes in the local Middle School Rounders League and enters several summer tournaments across the county.
Tennis, on the other hand, is a very technical and complex game to master. We focus therefore on developing the individual strokes and techniques to enable each student to play competently. The students develop their skills from an early age through short tennis and Mini tennis, eventually progressing to the use of full sized courts and equipment. Tennis fixtures are organised against the likes of Dame Alice, Kimbolton and Bedford High schools which BMS have compiled a successful record against.
